2015/09/08 - The use of deficit irrigation in the olive grove does not affect the amount of production, but leads an increase of phytoprostanes content in olive oil, being those beneficial health components, which could be a good practice. So says a study conducted by researchers at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), the Center for Soil Science and Applied Biology of Segura (CEBAS-CSIC), the Institute of Biomolecules Max Moussseron (IBMM) at the University of Montpellier and The Chaparrillo Agrarian Center of the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha.

2015/04/09 - The International Competition of Extra Virgin Olive Oil Olivinus 2015, held in Mendoza (Argentina) has been a success, receiving 304 samples from 15 different countries. In this edition, EVOOs from Argentina achieved 52 awards, followed by Spain with 24, Portugal (20), Chile (8), Uruguay (5), South Africa (4), Italy (3), Israel (3), Greece (2), Peru (1) and Turkey (1).

2015/09/03 - Mercacei launched in December 2014 its most ambitious project: Olivatessen by Mercacei, an innovative publication in English aimed to promote Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Following the success of the English version, with a circulation of over 15,000 copies worldwide, and in response to the demand of professionals, now Mercacei's most gourmet magazine is also available online in Spanish.
2015/09/02 - Data from the second forecast report published by Interaceituna regarding the 2015/16 campaign points out a production of 532,000 tons of table olives, a lower figure than in previous campaigns; although the final amount will be conditioned by the weather prevailing during the change of seasons between summer and fall.
2015/01/09 - The prestigious Great Taste Awards 2015, held in the United Kingdom, have recognized a dozen Spanish EVOOs with Gold Stars. These awards, organized by The Guild of Fine Food, promotes food and drinks of outstanding quality.
2015/31/08 - The world market for olive oil has grown considerably in the last 50 years. Consumption has increased from an average level of one million tonnes in the 60s to two million around mid 90s, reaching three million tonnes nowadays.

2015/25/08 - World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE) has announced a change in the dates of its fifth edition. Thus, the new dates have been advanced by one week (it was scheduled for 9 and 10th March 2016) and will be held days 2 and 3 of March in Hall 1 of Ifema, in Madrid. Once again, its aim is to present the first oils olive of the campaign, after a year in which much of the stored product has already been saled.
