OLEA Initiative will promote worldwide R&D projects related to the olive oil sector

2019/09/07 - In order to foster the joint participation of researchers, SMEs, public administrations, universities and research institutes in R&D project proposals on the olive sector, the University of Jaen International Projects Office (OFIPI) has created the so-called OLEA Initiative.

This initiative started in Brussels on 29th June 2017 (OLEA R&I Project Info & Networking Event) and is implemented with the collaboration with the UJA Advanced Research Center in Olive Grove and Olive Oils.

This first networking event counted on the advice of EC representatives & the SOST Office and focused on the R&I project funding opportunities (H2020, PRIMA, LIFE, INTERREG, BBI, etc.) for experts in the following OLEA areas: Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomass, Automation, Robotics, Economy, Ecology, Health and Process Engineering. The meeting was held in the Delegación de la Junta de Andalucía in Brussels.

Following the success of this first meeting, the UJA has recently hosted a second meeting on 25th January 2018 (OLEA R&I Project Development day) with over 100 participants, which again relied on the expertise of the SOST Office in Brussels (plus the experience of a H2020 project evaluator). One of the working groups of this Project Development Day was devoted to the PRIMA Initiative and the UJA SUSTAINOLIVE proposal was fortunately funded in 2019.

If you are interested in the OLEA Initiative, please leave us your contact details at form.
