United States, Brazil and Japan, main destinations for European olive oil in the first half of this campaign

2019/05/06 - The United States, Brazil and Japan have been the main destinations for olive oil exports from the Member States of the European Union (EU) in the first six months of the 2018/19 campaign, according to the latest data from the Community Executive.
Specifically, a total of 111,088 tons of olive oil (+23.9%) have been sent to the United States, followed by Brazil, with 37,086 tons (+2%); and Japan, with 31,511 t. (+ 38.7%). In addition to these countries, European countries have exported this product between October 218 and March 2019 to China (21,926 t., +23.4%), Canada (13,586 t., -2.9%), Australia ( 12,391 t., +8.9%) and Russia (7,471 t., +22.4%).

As for imports, the data of the EU Executive detail that the EU imported in that period a total of 77,011 tons, 18.1% less than in the previous season, of which 56,943 tons came from Tunisia (-8.7 %); 8,037 tonnes of Morocco (+378.1%); 5,323 tons from Syria (-52.2%); 3,282 tons from Turkey (-65.3%); 2.105 t. from Argentina (-65.9%); and 171 t. of Chile (-77.8%).
