Mercacei Publishing Group celebrates its 25th Anniversary in Expoliva

2019/20/05 - The 19th Fair of Olive Oil and Related Industries, Expoliva 2019, closed its last edition on May 18 after four intense days of exhibition, presentations, lectures and much innovation at the service of the olive and olive oil sector. Among the 382 direct exhibitors and 4,847 brands exhibited at the fair, the presence of Mercacei Publishing Group stood out. After more than two decades of presence at this fair, they decided to celebrate in Jaen its 25th Anniversary with its clients, advertisers and friends from this sector.

Mercacei Publishing Group monopolized the attention -through its viniled booth on the occasion of of its 25 years of trajectory- of the exhibitors and visitors who approached Expoliva. They all visited this space to enjoy a glass of champagne and take one of the personalized bracelets with the claim "Mercacei Moments, Extra Virgin Moments", designed for the occasion. The members of the Spanish Olive Oil Interprofessional, of the Patrimonio Comunal Olivarero or of the University of Jaén, among many other institutions, were some of the friends who didn't want to miss this event, nor did most of the exhibiting companies this edition.

It should be noted that Mercacei Publishing Group was founded in 1994 and in these more than two decades serving the olive oil sector it has managed to create and distribute the most complete group of publications -seven in total- in the world. With its more technical division, under the Mercacei brand -comprised by Mercacei Magazine, Mercacei Weekly Magazine, Industrial Guide of the Olive and Olive Oil Sector and the Guide of Manufacturers and Packers of Olive Oil- and its more gastronomic publications -Olivatessen by Mercacei and the EVOOLEUM Guide-, nowadays it has positioned itself as the largest publishing group in the sector worldwide.

All of Mercacei's publications were massively distributed from the group's booth, as well as through different points of the fair such as the main entrance, the congress palace (where the Technical Scientific Symposium took place) and the Extra Virgin Expoliva Hall. Likewise, the EVOOLEUM Guide was exposed and was also distributed in the booth of the University of Jaén and the Junta de Andalucía.

Balance of the fair
"Spectacular, impressive, unprecedented, magnificent, the best in its history, the best olive fair in the world... are just some of the comments that exhibitors and visitors have expressed about the nineteenth edition of Expoliva," said Ángel Vera, president of the Board of Directors of Ferias Jaén, during the press conference on the balance held last Saturday, May 18.

From Ferias Jaén they described as "extraordinary" this latest edition that has had the participation of 382 direct exhibitors, 11% more than during the last edition, representing 1,021 companies and 4,847 brands. These figures exceed in 42 direct exhibitors those registered in 2017.

During his speech, Vera specified that "the number of professional visitors who registered until Friday at 20:00 h. was 51,326. In the absence of accounting for the data on Saturday, and according to the forecasts we have from previous editions, at the closing of Expoliva we will be around 58,000-60,000 visitors, which means higher figures than those registered in 2017, which reached 52,523 visitors."

In reference to the international projection of Expoliva, he said that "the increase both in the number of countries present in the exhibition area and the companies represented, from 37 international firms in the edition of 2017 to 44 in this edition, from 13 countries, has been spectacular."

As for the visits of professionals from other countries, it has gone from 3,778 in 2017 to 4,025 in this edition. "We can confirm the presence of more than 70 countries, among which are the 64 oil-producing countries of the world, which come from such disparate countries as Iran, Montenegro, Palestine, Uruguay, Japan, Pakistan, Japan or China, among others," he explained.

Likewise, the media impact of Expoliva was also very important with 110 accredited media and 370 national and international journalists.

"These figures are the result of Ferias Jaén's hard work. This year, in addition, we increased the number of available spaces, such as the Expoliva Lab by Geolit ​​area, which was an important boost because it focused on innovation and technology linked to olive groves and olive oil," he stressed.

According to the chairman of the board of directors of Ferias Jaén, "another of the great goals of Expoliva and the main reason for this show is to establish business lines for participating companies, justified by the celebration of three commercial missions."

Thus, more than 300 appointments were made between buyers and olive oil sellers, machinery and technology transfer.

As a novelty in this edition, "we extended one more day the fair in order to be able to meet with exhibitors and companies of interest from which it is known that more than 290 meetings were held," he highlighted.

Regarding the Scientific-Technical Symposium, the delegate of Agriculture and executive president of the Fundación del Olivar, Soledad Aranda, said that 1,407 registrations were made and a total of 188 presentations were held.

Regarding the Expoliva Extra Virgin Area, which reached its sixth edition this year, Aranda explained that it had the presence of 192 international olive oils, a record number of all editions, and was visited by 4,180 accredited professionals, according to data recorded until Friday at noon.
