Writers from 12 countries present their stories to the II International Short Story Award on Olive Oil, Olive Trees and Oleotourism

2019/03/04 - March 31st was the deadline to participate in the II International Short Story Award on Olive Oil, Olive Trees and Oleotourism called by the Másquecuentos Cultural Association (MQC), which has received a total of 103 texts by writers from 12 countries.
With the announcement of this award, authors from countries such as Spain, Chile, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the United States, Colombia, Peru, Germany, Guatemala, Argentina, Venezuela and Bolivia have written stories specifically dedicated to the world of olive groves, olive oil and oleotourism. Of the 103 stories received, 82 come from Spain and the rest from abroad.

The Spanish authors belong to 28 different provinces (Jaén, Madrid, Málaga, Toledo, Valencia, Lleida, Ciudad Real, Murcia, Castellón, Seville, Albacete, Valladolid, Almería, León, Barcelona, ​​Logroño, Burgos, Huelva, Córdoba, Zaragoza, Palencia, Lugo, Granada, Segovia, Asturias, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Cádiz and Álava), while Jaén participants come from 13 municipalities: Jaén, Úbeda, Segura de la Sierra, Linares, Alcalá la Real, Pegalajar, Canena, Baños de la Encina, Huelma, Torreblascopedro, Frailes, Bailén and Andújar.

As in previous calls driven by MQC, the Internet users will decide with their votes the awards established in the rules of the contest.

Thus, during the next few days the website www.masquecuentos.es will publish all the stories presented, and from April 8 to May 8, users will grant with their votes the three prizes: the first endowed with 600 euros, the second with 400 euros and the third with 200 euros.

In addition, the 10 stories most voted by Internet users will qualify for the final phase of this contest, which will access a total of 20 stories. The other 10 selected texts will be chosen by the Reading Committee that has reviewed all the stories presented this year.

The jury of this contest will grant two other distinctions plus. Those two stories chosen by the jury, which may coincide in their ruling with the public awards, will be awarded 1,000 and 300 euros, respectively.

In addition to these awards, the organization of this contest also plans to publish a book with the 25 best stories presented to this contest, in addition to other initiatives aimed at spreading the culture of the olive grove.
