Tremendous success of EVOOLEUM 2019, which prepares innovations and surprises for this edition

2019/08/03 - The tasting days of the EVOOLEUM Awards 2019 International Competition begin today, which will bring together the best tasters in the world in Cordoba to evaluate the samples presented to this edition. According to its organizers -AEMO and Mercacei Publishing Group-, it is the most successful edition of a competition that has far exceeded all expectations and the number of EVOOs received in all previous editions.

The Visitor Reception Center of Cordoba -the first city with four Unesco Heritage Declarations- hosts, today and tomorrow, the tasting sessions of the EVOOLEUM Awards 2019. Its jury, composed of the 23 most important tasters in the world, will evaluate the samples from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, France, Croatia, Slovenia, Turkey, Israel, Morocco, Chile, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia, the United States, Malta, Germany or Japan - this last as a novelty this year- submitted to this fourth edition of the Contest.

The results of these tasting sessions will be made public -once the process of verifying samples before a notary is completed- on March 27 in Madrid, in the framework of the World Olive Oil Exhibition (WOOE), which will host the awaited presentation of the EVOOLEUM's TOP100 of this campaign.

As usual, the 100 best EVOOs in the world according to the EVOOLEUM Awards will appear in the next edition of the EVOOLEUM Guide 2020, along with a complete information sheet -origin, characteristics, varieties of the olives, type of olive grove, oleotourism activities, Kosher and Halal certificates-, accompanied by an image of its packaging, punctuation, tasting sheet and pairing.

"We can say that, today, EVOOLEUM is a reference worldwide," says Juan A. Peñamil, editor of the EVOOLEUM Guide, who is more than satisfied with the results of this edition. "Producers from all over the world have once again relied on this contest that has established itself as the most prestigious in the world, supported also by the most renowned consultants, importers and chefs, who use our Guide as an indispensable tool in the promotion of the extra virgin olive oil".

On the other hand, José María Penco, director of the Contest, stressed that "EVOOLEUM has broken the record once again of samples presented," while adding that "the fact of having received many EVOOs from countries such as Japan, the United States or Saudi Arabia offers us an idea of ​​the international projection that this Contest has with just four editions".

Asked about the innovations that this edition presents, both organizers have informed that during the next days they will communicate an important novelty about the EVOOLEUM Packaging Awards. We must recall that the samples presented to EVOOLEUM also compete in the Best Packaging Awards, which are divided into the categories of Best Premium EVOO Design, Best Innovative Design and Best Retail Design. These awards, in which EVOOLEUM was a pioneer, have their own jury selected specifically for this purpose and made up of prominent personalities from the world of fashion, design, photography and communication.
