An Iberia Plane hosts an aerial EVOO tasting for the first time in History

2018/13/02 - Olive Oils from Spain, promotional brand of the Interprofessional of Spanish Olive Oil, with the collaboration of Iberia, celebrated yesterday the first extra virgin olive oil tasting in history, at 35,000 feet (more than 10,500 meters) in an Airbus A-321 from the airline that covered the route between Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas and London-Heathrow airports. An action in which some 200 passengers participated.
Around 200 passengers received an Olive Oil Tasting Kit from Olive Oils from Spain that contained: two bottles with extra virgin olive oil of the Picual and Hojiblanca varieties; two cups; bread and a brochure with information about the tasting techinique and the oils that have been tasted.

The tasting was led by the expert Alfonso Fernández, who proposed this initiative as a pleasant and simple approach to the world of olive oils and accessible to travelers from many different origins. Before the tasting, Alfonso Fernández made a brief introduction about the peculiarities that make the olive juice unique and its role in the Mediterranean Diet.

Later, he invited the passage to join him in the tasting of two of the main varieties of our country: the Picual and the Hojiblanca. To do so, he offered some simple notions about the tasting process and guided the passengers through the complex nuances of the aromas and flavors of each EVOO. Finally, he offered some advice on its use in the kitchen, emphasizing its versatility.
