The design of the EVOOLEUM Pack, recognized at the International Contest Le Forme dell'Olio 2018

2018/08/01 - The fifth edition of the visual design and olive oil packaging contest Le Forme dell'Olio has awarded with the first prize in the category Best Label Award and the third prize in the category Gift Packaging Award the EVOOLEUM Pack designed by the Sevillian company OliveClub, which includes a selection of some of the best EVOOs in the world according to the results of the International Awards for the Quality of Extra Virgin Olive Oil EVOOLEUM Awards.
The presentation of this exclusive pack is made in a pentagonal box in which, when opened, five triangles containing two 50 ml. bottles are displayed with the information sheets of each producer and their tasting notes on the back. The award-winning oils included in this edition are Castillo de Canena (Picual and Royal Temprano), Morellana, Cortijo La Torre, Nobleza del Sur, Venta del Barón, Monte Rosso, Campolea, La Gramanosa and Quaryat.

According to the oleologist and writer Luigi Caricato, director of Olio Officina Festival and promoter of the contest, "the results of the fifth edition of Le Forme dell'Olio offer a rather flattering picture. EVOO companies are investing significantly in the visual design of their packaging, not only in quality, as they did before. Beyond the aromatic richness and the fresh flavors, many of them have already realized the importance of an adequate dressing of their EVOOs -packaging and labeling- as well as paying attention to the type, functionality and ergonomics of the packaging. The differential value of each extra virgin must be communicated in an appropriate way; a process that involves not only producers, packers or retailers, but also designers: it is, in short, to apply the concept of total quality."

In its different categories -among them, gift packaging, retail oils or, for the first time, travel oils- this contest pays tribute to the most innovative and brave companies, especially rewarding the beauty and functionality of its packaging, confirming that the quality of the bottles that contain the olive juices has increased significantly in recent years, as well as the ways of presenting and telling the stories that are hidden behind their production by the companies.

The winners in the Gift Packaging Award category have been, ex aequo, Re-Present (Southwalker, S.L., Spain) and Filippo Berio 150 Years-DOP Lucca (Filippo Berio, Lucca, Italy); in the Retail Oils-Companies Award category, Oro Verde (Carapelli Firenze, Italy), and Le Terre di Vito (Soc. Agr. Vernera di Spanò & C. Snc, Italy) in Retail Oils-Farms Award; and Viaggiolio, Lui, Lei, L'Altro (Mia Italy, Italy), in the new Travel Oils Award category.

The Special Award for Innovation has gone to The Legend (Barbuto Natural, Malta-Italy); the Special Award for Originality and Style has gone to Orci Pop Art (Frantoio Muraglia, Italy); and the Special Award for the Brand Line was for Monocultivar Frantoio del Poggiolo Monini, from Monini Spa (Italy). Finally, the Spanish brand Lady Exceptional, also from Southwalker, S.L. -which therefore signs a doublet-, has won the Special Award for Social and Educational Value for its initiative linked to cancer research Millions of drops make an ocean.

The jury, headed by the designer Gianni Pasini, awarded with the Compasso d'Oro (Golden Compass) prize, is formed by Luigi Caricato himself, director and creator of the contest; the graphic designer Gianluca de Leo; the events coordinator Francesco di Donato; the architect and designer Beatrice Forner; the journalists Paola Pagani, from the Italian magazine Imbottigliamento, and Marisa Fumagalli, from the Italian newspaper Il Corriere della Sera; the photographer and artist Gianfranco Maggio; the designer Mauro Olivieri; the artist Ornella Piluso; Daniele Tirelli, professor at the IULM University of Milan and president of the Retail Institute Italy; and Chiara Tomasi, Marketing Manager at Arconvert.

The award ceremony of the contest Le Forme dell'Olio will take place on February 2 during the celebration of Olio Officina Festival at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
