This is what Angel Vera, President of the Management Board of Ferias Jaén, said today during the presentation in Madrid of the next edition of the fair. In this act he has been accompanied by Rosa Isabel Ríos, General Director of Industries and Agro-Food Chain of the Junta de Andalucía; Ana Cobo, Delegate of the Andalusian Government in Jaén; and Juan Balbín, Executive President of the Fundación del Olivar, among other authorities.
During his speech, he emphasized that Expoliva is the world's largest event regarding olive oil and its related industries, showing the latest trends, technological and process innovations, as well as those regarding production and extraction of olive oil; and stressed that the support for the candidature of the Landscapes of the Olive Grove of Andalusia as World Heritage, which began in 2015, will continue also in this edition.
In his opinion, "this is the most important fair in the sector of how many are celebrated in the world and, of course, in Andalusia and not only because of what it means from the point of view of the business generated at the fair, but also thanks to its strategic importance being the province of Jaén a world olive oil reference." In this sense, "our ultimate goal is to continue contributing to the consolidation and projection of Expoliva as the best and most important event of the sector in the international arena," he added.
On the other hand, Vera has stressed that the main novelty of this edition is that the fair will have the participation of the 57 olive oil producing countries in the world. "It is an unprecedented event that positions the province of Jaén as a strategic center and international neuralgic sector," said Vera.
In this regard, Expoliva 2017 will increase the number of international booths by 19% compared to the previous edition, as a result of the great interest shown by foreign companies related to research, machinery and institutional representation, increasing from 31 to 37 those foreign firms that will participate and also rising from 10 to 11 the countries with exhibitors present such as Germany, Slovenia, France, England, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Tunisia and Turkey.
"From the organization, we wanted to make this edition of Expoliva the most professional. Visits from commercial delegations from Iran, Tunisia, Libya or Morocco have already been confirmed and are another highlight of the 18th edition of the fair," said Vera.
Another important news is marked by the increase in the number of exhibitors, ans this is why the organization has had to enable new exhibition spaces, additional to those raised in previous editions.
In addition to the number of exhibitors, there will also be an increase in the number of oils present in the Expoliva Extra Virgin Hall, which will count with the participation of 165 juices; as well as in the number of communications submitted to the Expoliva Technical Scientific Symposium, which has increased from 154 to 182.
According to the organizers of the fair, commercial missions will also be a key activity in the next edition of the show. In total, three will be performed; one of them, organized by Extenda, will celebrate this year its XI International Meeting of the Auxiliary Industry of the Olive Crop in Expoliva, centered in the auxiliary industry of the olive grove.
On the other hand, the Agencia Andaluza del Conocimiento will hold bilateral meetings between companies, research groups and institutions in the field of research and technology linked to the olive and olive oil sector. Finally, the Cámara de Comercio de Linares, the Diputación de Jaén and Ifeja will carry out several bilateral meetings between companies, research groups and public institutions active in the field of research and technology.
