EVOOs from Portugal, Israel and Spain have won the EVOOLEUM Packaging Awards

2018/14/06 - Once the EVOOLEUM International Awards to the World's TOP100 Extra Virgin Olive Oils were celebrated in March, yesterday Madrid hosted the last edition of the EVOOLEUM Awards for Best Packaging, that recognized the best containers in the categories Best EVOO Premium Design (Herdade do Esporão Biológico), Best Innovative Design (O-MED Limited Edition) and Best Design in Retail (Herdade do Sobrado). It should be noted that EVOOLEUM was the first Contest for the Quality of the Extra Virgins that launched Packaging Awards in which all the juices presented to this contest have participated.

The evaluation process and the final deliberations by the jury -selected specifically for these awards dedicated to packaging- took place yesterday at the fashion restaurant El Invernadero, in Madrid. The Spanish photographer with the greatest worldwide projection and National Photography Prize, Isabel Muñoz; the famous fashion designer Ángel Schlesser; the chef and restaurateur Javier Bonet, creator of reference spaces in Madrid as Sala de Despiece; style director and fashion communicator, Ana López de Letona; blogger and journalist Teresa de la Cierva, member of the Real Academia de Gastronomía (Royal Academy of Gastronomy); businesswoman and influencer, Cayetana Vela, creator of LuxuryComm, the first digital communications company specializing in luxury brands in Spain, and the blog Miss & Chic; and the renowned gallerist Blanca Berlín make up a jury with an openly multidisciplinary character and recognized prestige in each of their areas of expertise, with talent and creativity as the common denominator.

Packaging EVOOLEUM Awards

The Packaging EVOOLEUM Awards are divided into three categories: Best EVOO Premium Design, Best Innovative Design and Best Design in Retail. In the first of them, the winner -Gold Medal- has been the Portuguese Herdade do Esporão Biológico (Esporão, S.A.) for its "elegant design, incorporating embossed elements and a clean and innovative graphic", in the opinion of the jury. The Silver Medal has awarded ex aequo Marqués de Valdueza, of Bodega Perales, S.L. (Spain) "with a classic and sober packaging that transmits quality and evokes the history behind the product"; and Mas Montseny Premium, of Mas Montseny, S.C.P. (Spain), "for its clean and differentiating bottle, comfortable to touch, whose elegant lines dialogue perfectly with the craftsmanship of its cork stopper". Finally, the Bronze Medal has been offered to the Spanish brand Olibaeza (S.C.A. Del Campo El Alcázar) for its "original bottle in white tones reminiscent of the South of Spain and its screen in a golden color that brings a delicate and noble touch".

In the category of Best Innovative Design, with the Gold Medal has been awarded O-MED Limited Edition, of Venchipa, S.L. (Spain), "for its original format and the beautiful drawing of a centenary olive tree when the rest of the collection is pulled together". Olmais, from Quinta dos Olmais (Portugal) has won the Silver Medal for "its innovative format, ideal as a gift, that subtly combines elegance and comfort"; while Cortijo El Puerto, of Ingeoliva, S.L. (Spain), has obtained the Bronze Medal for its "revolutionary concept when it comes to integrating the images of farm animals on the label and its casual format, reminiscent of a pharmacy jar".

Finally, in the Best Design in Retail category, the Gold Award has been given to the Portuguese Herdade do Sobrado, from Fitagro Grupo, S.L., "for its vintage format and the clean tones of its label, reminiscent of Mediterranean cuisines". With the Silver Medal, has been recognized Extra Peaceful Olive Oil, from Sindyanna of Galilee (Israel), "for the beauty of the history it transmits, of peace and love between the Ebre and Palestinian cultures, for providing a social value and combining in a subtle way the design and its message"; at the same time that the Bronze Medal has been given to the juice Oilé, of Dehesa de Búlar S.L. (Spain), attending to "its the design of its can, very practical when storing, and its industrial image that reminds us of the origins of the product".

As the EVOO TOP100 brings together the 100 best extra virgin olive oils in the world, all the EVOOs awarded in the Packaging EVOOLEUM Awards will appear in the 2019 edition of the EVOOLEUM World's TOP 100 Extra Virgin Olive Oils Guide -published in Spanish and English printed and with its own app- through a complete descriptive and informative sheet of each of the awarded juices next t an image of the container.

It is a unique Guide in the world in its category, of which 10,000 copies are printed and distributed to the entire gourmet segment, as well as to international importers. Mercacei travels with it, with its own booth, to all the major fairs, such as the Summer Fancy Food in New York, where we will be present again between June 30 and July 2.
