Montoro becomes the epicenter of olive growing and olive oil sectors

2018/14/05 - Conceived as a showcase of international reference in the olive sector, Feria del Olivo will open its doors in Montoro (Córdoba, Spain) its 19th edition from May 16th to 19th. In its wide program of activities highlights the II Salón del Virgen Extra a space to discover and enjoy the best EVOOs in the world recognized by the EVOOLEUM Awards International Contest.

Organized by the Consortium of Feria del Olivo and promoted by the City Council of Montoro, the Spanish Association of Municipalities of Olivo (AEMO) and the Ilígora Cultural Recreation Club, the biannual event has the collaboration of Patrimonio Comunal Olivarero, in whose facilities will hold the fair.

In one of the spaces will take place the second edition of the II Extra Virgin Hall that can be visited along the four days of the event. It is a platform focused on discovering EVOOs of high-end quality.

Supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucía and the Diputación de Córdoba, the initiative celebrates its second edition this year after the success of 2016, which welcomed more than 3,600 visitors.

Anyone who visits the II Salón del Aceite will be able to contemplate the aroma and properties of the best EVOOs in the world endorsed by the EVOOLEUM International Competition and included in the EVOOLEUM World's TOP 100 Extra Virgin Olive Oils Guide.

The finalist EVOOs of the 2018 Feria del Olivo Awards, oils from the different Andalusian PDOs and the finalists of the Cordoba Provincial Awards will also be present.

In addition to the exhibition, in the widespread program of the fair there will also be space for the Technical Conference that, under the title "In search of a dignified income for the olive grove: reconversion and self-regulation", will address different current issues such as modifications that will suffer the regulations of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in the oil sector. In the same, experts in each of the issues will question the reconversion and raise the vision of self-regulation from the perspective of production, transformation, marketing and administration.
