The 19th Montoro Olive Tree Trade Fair will promote Innovation and knowledge with an even more International approach

2018/08/02 - The next edition of the Montoro Olive Tree Trade Fair, which will take place in Montoro (Córdoba) between May 16 and 19, will bring together a wide range of commercial offerings and will once again become a key meeting point for discovering innovations in machinery, technological advances and research projects. In an interview with Mercacei, the Mayor of this town, President of the Montoro Olive Tree Trade Fair Consortium and the Spanish Association of Municipalities of Olivo (AEMO), Ana María Romero, anticipates in exclusive the novelties of this edition.

How is this next edition of the Montoro Olive Tree Trade Fair presented? What will be its key strengths?
The Olive Tree Fair has an increasingly multidisciplinary character in terms of the target audience to which it is addressed. It is true that it started as an exhibition of machinery, but over the last editions its content has been enriched and this has aroused the interest of different groups.

It is still a not-to-miss event for the manufacturers of farming machinery and a great platform for oil mills to present their novelties, of course, but it is also an event for market players, buyers, producers and brokers, who find in its technical conferences a forum for reflection, and also a date for EVOO lovers who will be even able to taste the best oils of this campaign. Finally it is also an event for the general public that as a consumer can get to know the sector and its different nuances.

In short, it is an olive party, and the olive tree has always been the best host for everyone who wants to get close to it.

What new features will the fair offer in its next edition?
Extenda will organize a trade mission of importers of the auxiliary industry of agriculture within the framework of the Montoro Olive Tree Fair.

This commercial mission is aimed mainly to companies in the sector of the auxiliary olive industry. The objective is to show a selection of operators (importers, distributors, wholesalers and prescribers) the Andalusian offer of this sector and identify business opportunities.

Extenda will invite international operators from Algeria, Chile, Morocco, Peru, South Africa, Turkey and Tunisia, markets that present very interesant business opportunities for Andalusian companies.

To do this, it will count on the collaboration of the Business Promotion Offices of Morocco and Chile, the agencies of Extenda External Network in Peru, Turkey, Algeria and South Africa, as well as the Commercial Office of Spain in Tunisia.
The international meeting will consist of bilateral meetings between the invited operators and the Andalusian companies exhibiting.

What are your estimates regarding visitors and exhibiting companies?
We have even better forecasts than those of the last edition. Montoro is the most important fair in the olive sector in Spain this year.

Will you promote the presence of foreign firms and entrepreneurs?
Of course, we are working with an international focus and we also have the precious loyalty of the exhibitors from previous editions. The presence of the exhibitors has always been of diverse origin, without going any further in the last edition we had exhibitors from seven Autonomous Communities and six different countries. We will continue to promote the presence of companies that provide innovation and quality in their products.

What topics will be addressed in the Technical Conferences and what professionals are expected to participate?
The theme of this edition is very interesting and higly contemporary: "In search of a decent income for the olive grove: Reconversion and Self-regulation". We will discuss whether the reconversion is a matter of innovation or necessity, from the vision of self-regulation from the point of view of the producing, transforming, marketing and administration sector.

The Fair will also carry out parallel activities of special interest such as guided tastings and contests...
On the programming of parallel activities we have initiatives aimed at the dissemination of innovation and the quality of EVOO, together with research and the sharing of knowledge, in general, related to the cultivation of olive trees, the technology of olive oil production and Mediterranean gastronomy.

In addition, the best EVOOs in the world endorsed by the EVOOLEUM International Competition will once again be the protagonists of the II Extra Virgin Hall, one of the main novelties of the last edition of the fair, a space approached by around 3,600 people in 2016. This show will bring an innovative facet to the fair, having the presence of the highest quality oils, so it is expected to consolidate in this edition.

The activities are dedicated to all audiences and to our future consumers, the youngest ones, in the educational centers of the town, and the homage within the tradition to our patron "Saint Isidro".

We will also carry out demonstrations and talks about the latest innovations in the sector and offer the best scenario to celebrate the Technological Innovation and Transfer Contest, the International Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition "Pedro León Mellado" and the National Poetry Contest.
