France will host in September the first EVOO Tasting Team Championship

2017/10/07 - France will host next 16th September the first National Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting Team Championship, whose objective is to promote excellence in the evaluation and recognition of the EVOO producing regions of the world.
The organizing committee of this event, which held its second edition in Spain last March, will be formed by Alexandra Paris, of the French Olive Oil Interprofessional (Afidol); Cécile Le Galliard, from jusdolive.fr; and Simon Field, founder and director of Savantes. This committee will be responsible for supervising the championship and for resolving any issues or appeals that may arise.

Among the main requirements to take part in this event, which will end on 25 July, highlights that all competitors of the team must be people residing in France, and that when registering to participate they must complete all the data of their team members and provide the name of the team which needs to comprise three tasters.

For those who are interested but don't have a team, they can register individually and the organizing committee will qualify those remaining teams as they receive the individual requests.

In the case of foreign teams, whose members are not resident in France, they can participate in the tests, but can not compete as a team in the national championship.

In the individual competition each participant can be evaluated and receive the Savantes Associate's certificate. In addition, all participants will have the opportunity to be part of the International Register of Extra Virgin Olive Oil Savantes.

The winning team and the team coming second will receive the Championship trophies for 2017.

The winning teams will be eligible to represent France in the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting Team Championship should it proceed as planned in 2018.
