Expoliva 2017 opens its doors tomorrow: an edition that promises to pulverize records

2017/09/05 - From tomorrow until May 13th, Jaén will reaffirm its status as the true global olive oil heart and strategic nerve center of the sector with the celebration at the Provincial Fair and Congress Center of Jaén (Ifeja) of the XVIII International Fair of Olive Oil and Allied Industries, Expoliva 2017. In this framework, Mercacei will again have a privileged space (Interior Pavilion Stand D-23) to make a wide information coverage and distribute its range of publishing products for the olive sector.

It was officially presented on April 19th at Caixa Forum Madrid in an event attended by the different authorities representing each of the institutions involved in the organization of the fair, that will have a strong international accent. The current edition of Expoliva boasts a number of overwhelming numbers: 40,000 square meters of exhibition, 326 exhibitors from 11 countries, 923 direct and indirect companies represented, 4,215 trade marks... and, above all, something unprecedented and exceptional: the Fair will be attended by the 57 olive oil producing countries from the five continents, a milestone. From Austria and the United Kingdom, in old Europe, to China or Japan, the Asian giants, through Arabia, USA, Chile or Argentina. At the present time, eleven countries have confirmed their participation in the fair as exhibitors: Germany, Slovenia, France, England, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Tunisia and Turkey. Not surprisingly, Expoliva has won its 11th international recognition for the eleventh consecutive year, becoming the only fair that achieves this category in Andalusia.

We are talking about the biggest and most important event in the olive oil and related industries sector, a true showcase of the latest technological and processing trends and innovations, as well as those related to the production and extraction of olive oil. A pioneering fair in the world as it is the only international sample in which each and every one of the processes involved in the production of olive oil, from the field to the table, is present. During four intense days, Expoliva becomes a true global epicenter of the olive grove and olive oil sector: olive oil machinery, cooperatives and mills, fertilizers, packaging and distributors, technology, R&D...

The main novelty of this eighteenth edition -which will continue to support the candidature of the Andalusian Olive Grove Landscape as a World Heritage Site, which began in 2015- is the participation of the 57 olive oil producing countries of the world, while increasing the number of exhibitors, which has forced the organization to enable new additional spaces to accommodate all companies wishing to exhibit their products and services in Expoliva -the waiting list amounted to more than half a hundred- considering that 95% of the exhibitors who attended the previous edition repeat at Expoliva 2017. And not only do exhibitors increase -with 19% more international companies that go from 31 to 37-; so does the number of EVOOs present at the VI International Exhibition of Extra Virgin Olive Oils (165) -which will continue to celebrate its open tasting sessions and showcookings- and the number of communications from the XVIII Scientific-Technical Symposium (from 154 To 182).

Missions and commercial visits
Since its first edition in 1983, Expoliva has been growing exponentially both in the number of exhibitors, professionals and services offered and in the number of visitors that visit its facilities. This fair aspires to be a true business engine and improve its already excellent business level. The trade missions that have been organized to generate a greater volume of business, along with the visits of trade delegations from Iran, Tunisia -the Tunisian ambassador and minister of agriculture will visit the fair- Libya and Morocco, are also a strong point of the next edition of the fair. In total, three commercial missions will be carried out, one of them organized by Extenda -which this year celebrates its XI International Meeting of the Auxiliar Olive Industry in Expoliva - with the aim of showing a selection of buyers and international prescribers the Andalusian region and its exportable offer in terms of products and services of the auxiliary industry of the olive grove, in addition to identifying business opportunities in the selected markets.

On the other hand, the Agencia Andaluza del Conocimiento will hold bilateral meetings between companies, research groups and public institutions active in the field of research and technology linked to the olive and olive oil sector. Finally, the Chamber of Commerce of Linares, Diputación de Jaén and Ifeja will carry out several bilateral meetings between companies, research groups and public institutions active in the field of research and technology. Without forgetting the program of professional visitors, which include protocol appointments, meeting with authorities, guided tours, conference on the global environment of olive oil, logistical support, B2B meetings...

Likewise, within the busy agenda of activities and protocol events of the fair, it is worth mentioning some acts such as the Ceremony of the Awards for the Quality of Extra Virgin Olive Oil Expoliva 2017 and the AEMO Awards, the celebration of the Degusta Jaén market, the V edition of the Innova Space of Citoliva and AZTI, the forum for the presence and active participation of rural women and professionals in the agri-food sector, the annual assembly of the Mediterranean Olive Cities Network (RECOMED) or the outstanding presence of leading companies sector. In summary, an edition that promises to be simply enthralling.
